Bio:

Shonna works with a wide range of clients to help them enhance the quality of their lives. She has contributed as a columnist to several publications and regularly speaks locally on diverse health and wellness topics.

She teaches workshops for married couples and individuals, guiding them toward a more authentic and emotionally fulfilling life. In addition to offering group counseling, Lifespan Integration, and psychosomatic approaches, she has served as a keynote speaker at numerous events. Her presentations have addressed sensitive and impactful topics such as sexual abuse, infidelity, developing emotional intimacy, strengthening marriages, fostering connection over contempt, becoming a safe person, and the freedom that comes with setting healthy boundaries.

Shonna’s realistic, goal‑oriented, and relational approach to health and wellness has empowered hundreds of clients to improve their quality of life. Through her work, individuals have broken free from addiction, depression, and eating disorders, overcome trauma and family‑of‑origin patterns, and discovered peace, happiness, and freedom. Recognizing that life is both a journey of suffering and celebration, Shonna considers it a privilege to walk alongside each person, humbly working with them in an organic and transformative way.

Credentials:

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Physiology from Western Washington University in May 1995 and a Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology in May 2007. I am a trained Lifespan Integration Counselor and a member of the AACC (American Association of Christian Counselors). In addition to counseling, I have been a fitness, health and wellness instructor, coach, presenter, author and consultant since 1994.

Therapeutic Style:

My practice is rooted in Object Relations Therapy, focusing on relational and attachment patterns, family of origin, and somatic responses to address areas of “dis‑ease” in life. I also integrate Lifespan Integration therapy and other tools tailored to each client’s needs, sometimes including homework. Because meaningful change can feel disruptive, it’s normal to experience challenges before progress emerges. Outcomes depend on your commitment to the process, and while results cannot be guaranteed, therapy offers the opportunity for transformation.

Session Length: Standard sessions are 55 minutes. Longer sessions (90–120 minutes) may be scheduled for Lifespan Integration, marriage counseling, family reconciliation, or significant trauma work.
